Support Victims of Hurricane Katrina Now!

We have many friends in the Gulf Coast area who are keeping us informed about the challenges there. Terri Cannon, a dedicated Doberman Pinscher fancier and NAIA, NAIA Trust and FIDO supporter from Baton Rouge, Louisiana is one such person. Her descriptions have been very informative and her suggestions have been very useful.
This is the biggest disaster in our nation’s history and the only way normal life will ever be restored is through the generosity of fellow Americans. That's why we are making recommendations about how you can help.
Based on our research and Terri's advice we recommend that donors wanting to help people should donate to the Red Cross. For people who want to help local animals, they should go to this link and donate to either the Louisiana or Mississippi fund. Both are cooperative efforts coordinated by state veterinary associations.
If your special love is dogs, please donate to the AKC CAR Canine Relief and Support Fund. With this program, 100% of your donation goes to the dogs. You can't get any better than that! In addition, AKC has added a special section to its website to help people send useful items to the area. Please take the time to read the article posted here and check out the special web-based exchange program.
Please donate whatever you can. If you can only afford to give $5.00, donate it now. Your help can make a difference to thousands of your fellow citizens, beloved pets, and our nation's future.
Sincerely,
Patti Strand, NAIA National Director
